Pheadra Carey, MSW
Who Am I?
I’m a Master of Social Work (MSW) practitioner and Registered Social Worker with over 15 years of experience supporting children, youth, and families through times of challenge, change, and growth. I’m a certified Narrative Therapist and CBT Therapist, and I’m currently expanding my work through training in Expressive Arts Therapy and Somatic Experiencing to offer a more holistic, body-based approach to healing.
My practice is rooted in authenticity, compassion, and curiosity. I believe that healing happens in relationship, when we feel seen, understood, and supported in reconnecting with our own sense of meaning and resilience.
I bring both professional and lived experience to this work. As a foster caregiver and a parent of children with high support needs, I understand the layered realities and emotional landscape of complex caregiving, and I understand the deep love, persistent advocacy, and profound resilience it requires. My own experiences with adversity growing up also shape the way I show up in this work—with empathy, humility, and deep respect for each person’s story.
At the heart of my work is a belief that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken, it’s about remembering what’s whole. Together, we create a space that feels safe, curious, and compassionate, where meaningful change can take shape.

Who I Work With
I work with caregivers, parents, and individuals navigating the complexities of life and relationships. Many of the people I support are foster, adoptive, or kinship caregivers, as well as parents of children with disabilities or high support needs. I also work with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss—including traumatic bereavement—and those moving through major life transitions, identity shifts, or the lingering impacts of loss and burnout.
My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and neurodiversity-affirming. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in relationship. I see therapy as a shared space where we can slow down, listen closely to the body and story, and explore what needs care or attention.
In our work, I weave together my experience and training to support clients in deepening awareness, processing experiences, and reconnecting with their sense of self and possibility. Sessions might include reflection, grounding practices, or creative exploration—always tailored to what feels right for you. Together, we work toward building a sense of safety, agency, and meaning that can sustain healing long after therapy ends.
I offer in-person sessions in Edmonton and virtual sessions across Alberta. I invite prospective clients to book a free 15-minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit for each other.
